Commercial Watermen Recover Nearly 3,500 Lost Crab Pots
North Carolina Coastal Federation led the The Lost Fishing Gear Recovery Project in January of this year. The Federation hired 76 commercial watermen to remove marine debris from the NC sounds. A total of 3,496 lost crab pots were collected out of the water. 2,235 of those crab pots were collected from the NC/VA line to Ocracoke by 24 boats and 48 commercial watermen.
