Are you ready for a throwdown?


It's the ultimate shrimp and grits throwdown when the 2017 Day at the Docks convenes in Hatteras Village. So who are the contenders for this epic battle? None other than NC Catch board member Chef Jay Pierce (who literally wrote the book on shrimp) vs. Chef Tom Armstrong, of Vinnie's Steakhouse in Raleigh (Chef Tom is well-loved by Hatteras Island residents thanks to his fundraising efforts post-Hurricane Matthew).

The chefs' dishes will be tasted and scored by five celebrity judges:

Chef Ricky Moore, chef and owner of Saltbox Seafood Joint in Durham

Elizabeth Wiegand, author of Outer Banks Cookbook

Justise Robbins, sous chef at Vivian Howard's Chef and the Farmer

Margo Knight Metzger, Our State Magazine

Eduardo Chavez, chef and owner of Eduardo's Taco Truck (Ocracoke) and past throwdown winner

The throwdown will get underway at 2 pm, Saturday, Sept. 16 under the big tent.
