Why “The Passion”? We are deeply passionate about the seafood supplied by our dedicated fishermen and fisherwomen, as well as the fresh produce from our farmers and the quality beef from our ranchers. They are our Food Heroes, and we are truly fortunate to have access to the amazing bounty provided by the NC coast, regarded as some of the best in the country!
Each evening, three talented NC chefs will take over The Hackney kitchen to craft an exceptional 4-course dinner, showcasing the finest NC seafood and produce sourced from our dedicated NC Supplier Food Heroes. Whenever possible, these heroes will be present to share insights and educate attendees about the featured seafood. These events offer a unique opportunity to connect with both the chefs and suppliers.
Each dinner will feature pre-dinner canapés and the option to pair each course expertly with exquisite wines selected to enhance the flavors of the dishes.
The series takes place at The Hackney, housed in a beautifully restored former bank building. The Hackney is the home of 2024 James Beard finalist for Best Chef Southeast, Chef Jamie Davis, providing a stunning setting for this unique culinary event.
Some proceeds from each night will be donated to our charity partners, NC Catch and The James Beard Foundation

Chef Ricky Moore presents….Jumpin' Mullet Supper
NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Rooted in Tradition, Served with NC Coastal Soul: the jumping mullet has long been a staple along the Carolina coast — a humble fish that fed families, brought communities together, and turned into feasts that were as much about fellowship as they were about food. For generations, Black fishermen and cooks made mullet suppers a way to honor the water’s abundance, to share stories, and to celebrate resilience. Today, we gather in Durham to carry forward that legacy — lifting up the flavors, the traditions, and the spirit of a meal that connects us to the past while feeding the future.
We hope you’ll join us, for this special celebration of NC Seafood, in Durham on October 26th at SALTBOX SEAFOOD JOINT!

North Carolina Seafood Festival
The NC Seafood Festival, held the first full weekend in October since 1987 on the Morehead City waterfront and free to the public, promises to be a fun-filled event with food, entertainment, kids’ activities, vendors, and artisans – while educating the public, promoting the seafood industry in North Carolina, and honoring the commercial fishing fleet that brings fish and shellfish to our tables, markets and restaurants.
Savoring Seafood
From traditional seafood fare to the more exotic – all will be available for attendees to sample during the festival. No one should go away hungry!
Festival goers will find familiar and new seafood delights at dozens of booths sponsored by restaurants, civic organizations, school groups and churches, all featuring their own interpretation of the best North Carolina has to offer from the bounty of the sea.
In addition, cooking demonstrations will be held throughout the weekend at both the Got to be NC Seafood Cooking Stage and the Carolina Cooker Stage on the Big Rock Deck. Highlighted is an endless variety of seafood prepared in multiple ways.
Save NC Shrimp | Shrimp Day @ the Legislature
Please join us on Tuesday, June 24th, at the NC General Assembly and make your voice heard regarding HB442.
The future of our coastal communities and North Carolina's access to safe, sustainable shrimp is in their hands. We must show up to help educate lawmakers why HB422 is a flawed bill with dire consequences for the commercial fishing industry, consumers, restaurants, and the entire state's economy.
Please join us on the steps of the Legislative Building at 9 AM. We plan on being there for the duration of the day. If you have to arrive later, find us in the Legislative Building, the Legislative Office Building, or on the Bicentennial Mall. If you can't attend in person, please continue to call and email your House members.
TOGETHER, we can stop HB442.
For information about location, parking, conduct in the gallery, and other general information about visiting the Legislature, please visit https://www.ncleg.gov/About/VisitorInfo
Let us know you are coming and receive updates by responding to our Facebook Event.
