Seafood Throwdown at Day at the Docks

Recipe

The annual Day at the Docks Seafood Throwdown will start at noon, Saturday, September 19, 2015.

You won’t want to miss this first ever interisland throwdown!

The 2015 Seafood Throwdown chefs are Taylor Rawl from The Mad Crabber Restaurant in Avon and Eduardo Chavez from Eduardo’s Taco Stand in Ocracoke.

Rawl and Chavez will have one hour to create dishes using a local seafood ingredient that will be revealed only when the event gets underway.

Dishes will be scored on taste, use of the whole fish, originality and presentation.

Judges for 2015 are Reverend Richard Joyner from the Conetoe Family Life Center in Edgecombe County, Jack Thigpen with NC Sea Grant, and Ryan Speckman with Locals Seafood.

Emcees are Bob Barris from Hatteras Realty, Jeff Aiken from Jeffrey’s Seafood, and food writer and Outer Banks SeaSalt founder Amy Huggins Gaw.

The secret seafood ingredient will be provided by Jeffrey’s Seafood and the produce by the Conetoe Family Life Center.

The 2015 Seafood Throwdown is sponsored by Hatteras Village Civic Association, NC Catch, NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, NC Sea Grant, NC Watermen Foundation, Outer Banks Catch, and Saltwater Connections.
